A very simple way to learn a chord quickly is to learn the simple steps you need to take in order to form it. By doing this correctly you will greatly increase the speed that you are able to learn how to play guitar.
Why learn guitar chords?
Chords are a hugely important guitar technique. They are the gateway to being able to play hundreds of thousands of songs that use simple chord progressions.
Learning your chords. 3 simple steps
The basic guitar chords that you should cover when first starting out are your major and minor chords. These can be easily learnt using mostly 3 and sometimes 2 simple steps. The chord we are going to learn today is the A major chord which has 3 steps.
The steps for the rest of the chords are very simple as well. There are 7 major chords as well as 7 minor. One for each letter in the musical alphabet (A – G). To learn how to play guitar chords click here.
Step 1: Take your ring finger and place it on the 2nd string at the 2nd fret.

Step 2: Take your middle finger and place it on the 3rd string at the 2nd fret.

Step 3: Take your index finger and place it on the 4th string at the 2nd fret.

Using a down wards motion play only the bottom 5 strings all at once to create a single multi tone sound. Now strum back up again. To strum the strings you can either use a pick or you can use your fingers. Using a pick will produce the clearer and stronger sound.
